Races

One of the first choices you will make in Midkemia Online is which of the 6 playable races your character will be: Dwarf, Eledhel, Goblin, Human, Moredhel, or Troll. Each race has its own unique advantages but, unlike typical MMOs, you choose your own base statistics (strength, intelligence, etc.) as you level your character -- tailoring your character to match your own playstyle and choices.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to select the homeland for your character. With the exception of the Elves (divided into the Moredhel and Eledhel homelands), what homeland is chosen is entirely an aesthetic decision.

Dwarf

Stout and hardy, the Dwarves are mountain folk. The Grey Towers and Stone Mountains hold two of the great dwarven kingdoms, and the Dwarves are renowned miners, blacksmiths, and tinkerers. It is commonly said that a Dwarf can never lose his path - acknowledging their skill at navigating the deep and labyrinthine mines they have hewn below the mountains.

Eledhel

Known by the Humans as Elves, the graceful Eledhel - a name meaning "the Light Ones" in their own tongue - are a reclusive, immortal people steeped in the lore of nature and the forests they call home. Swift of foot and mind, the Eledhel rarely ventured from their enchanted treetop city deep in the forest of Elvandar, until emerging to stand strong against the invading Tsurani armies in the Riftwar.

Goblin

Fierce and brutal hunters, the Goblins infest the Green Heart forest, mountains, and Northlands of Midkemia. Smaller than a Human, Goblins have blue-green skin, large yellow eyes, thick browridges, and curving fangs. The Goblins have long been allies of the Moredhel, and are hated enemies with the Dwarves.

Human

Humans are the dominant race of Midkemia, having spread far and wide -- but also the most diverse, splintered into numerous warring nations. Chief among these nations are the vast Kingdom of the Isles in the north, and her rival the Empire of Great Kesh past the Vale of Dreams in the south. The Kingdom of the Isles was bitterly ravaged during the Riftwar, when alien Tsurani from another world invaded through magical Rifts and were barely thrown back.

Moredhel Elf

Moredhel

Twisted by their lust for power, the Moredhel - "the Dark Ones" - are distant kin to the Eledhel. Eons past, while the Eledhel lived in the wilds and communed with nature, the Moredhel studied arcane and ruinous magics to dominate and empower. As beautiful as they are terrible, the Moredhel follow the Dark Path: seeking out artifacts and dread powers of the ancient Valheru Dragon Lords. Living in the bitter Northlands, the cunning Moredhel hold court in the fortress-city Sar-Sargoth.

Troll

A tribal people, the vicious Trolls inhabit the mountains and forests, shying far from the eyes of civilization. They travel on all fours as often as not, covered in thick gray hides and with long, curving fangs. Preferring solitude, the Trolls rarely attack travelers, but recently encroaching civilization has forced them into an alliance with the Moredhel and Goblins.
